Outpatient Surgery Centers

Our state-of-the-art outpatient surgery centers provide comprehensive surgical services staffed by our own anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and peri-operative and post-anesthesia care nurses.

The centers offer patients many advantages over a hospital setting, including:

Located in Fairfax and Herndon, the surgery centers are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, (AAAHC). More than 4,400 surgeries are performed at the centers each year.

The AAAHC Accreditation of our Outpatient Surgery Centers

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care - also known as AAAHC or the Accreditation Association - is a private, non-profit organization formed to assist ambulatory health care organizations improve the quality of care provided to patients. The accreditation survey is a voluntary process through which an organization is able to measure the quality of its services and performance against nationally recognized standards. The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization, as well as a thorough review by the Accreditation Association's expert surveyors, who themselves have extensive experience in the ambulatory health care environment.

Commonwealth Outpatient Surgery Centers are state-of-the-art outpatient surgical facilities providing scheduled and urgent outpatient orthopaedic surgery, pain management, and anesthesia services for Commonwealth Orthopaedics patients.

Commonwealth Orthopaedics is committed to providing quality medical and surgical care. Commonwealth is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, a private, non-profit organization formed to assist ambulatory health care organizations improve the quality of care provided to patients.

Commonwealth Outpatient Surgery Centers accept patients between the ages of three and sixty-four.

Patients of the Commonwealth Outpatient Surgery Centers will receive (3) three billing statements from Commonwealth for services, one from the surgeon, one from the facility, and one from anesthesia.

I had arthroscopic knee surgery at the Fairfax Surgical Suite and experienced a quality of health care that I can only describe as remarkable. I have not experienced anything so warm and caring from the medical community since I was a child in the 1960s. Even though the outward appearance of the surgical center is similar to any emergency room, it is the staff that made the difference that day. Unlike the cold, impersonal and antiseptic attitude that haunts the typical hospital, your staff was engaging and extremely attentive to my needs. Thanks for a truly uncommon medical experience.
