Erin
Berk , DPT
Erin Berk is a native of Rockville, MD. She was an active child, growing up with an interest in ballet and gymnastics that evolved into field hockey, swimming and lacrosse by high school. She continued her lacrosse career into college as she attended the University of Pennsylvania where she received a BA in the Biological Basis of Behavior. Erin began working with Commonwealth as a physical therapy aide while in college and in the year following prior to attending Duke University where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Erin has worked in the Arlington, Fairfax and Reston offices, but currently sees patients at the Tysons location.
In her free time Erin enjoys spending time outdoors and recreational running.
Leanne Dunaway, PT, DPT
Leanne was born in Fairfax, Virginia, but shortly after her family moved to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Her entire childhood was spent there, and she continues to claim it as “home.” Leanne attended Misericordia University in Dallas, Pennsylvania and graduated in 2004 with a Master of Physical Therapy, a Bachelor of Health Science, and a minor in Psychology. Following graduation, Leanne volunteered with Cabrini Mission Corps, which landed her in New York, New York. For one year she volunteered in Cabrini Medical Center, providing physical therapy to patients on the inpatient rehabilitation unit. It was through this experience that Leanne decided to venture into outpatient orthopedics and found a love for the atmosphere.
It was also through Cabrini Mission Corps that Leanne was able to get a taste of Colorado for she spent a short time volunteering at a mission site in Golden, Colorado after her volunteer work in New York. Immediately a desire to experience a different part of the country set in, and in 2006, Leanne embarked on a new adventure and moved to Greeley, Colorado. There, she worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic for five years before relocating back to the East Coast. Leanne came on board with Commonwealth Orthopaedics in August 2011.
While practicing physical therapy full-time in Colorado, Leanne returned to school to work toward a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. In April 2011, Leanne graduated from the University of St. Augustine with her DPT degree.
Outside of the physical therapy world, Leanne has a love for the outdoors. She enjoys running and hiking and snow shoeing in the winter months. Checking out exhibits at museums, watching baseball (especially the Rockies!), attending the theatre, and trying new restaurants are up her alley as well!
Kelly Klosner, PT, DPT
Kelly Klosner attended Utica College of Syracuse University where she received a Bachelor degree in Health Studies, she continued on there to obtain her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Kelly grew up on Long Island, NY where she worked in an outpatient clinic after graduating college. She first became motivated to be a Physical Therapist after a positive personal experience, she wants to continue to motivate and help others the same way she was. Kelly began working with Commonwealth Orthopaedics after moving to Northern Virginia with her husband and two children. She enjoys exploring the Northern Virginia area and taking her children to all of the museums, parks and zoos.
Daniel Plummer, DPT
Daniel was born and raised in northern Virginia. He first became interested in physical therapy after taking a physical therapy class offered by his high school. He attended Shenandoah University where he completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies, ultimately receiving his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Daniel has a strong interest in manual therapy, with special interest in treating sacroiliac dysfunction/low back pain as well as adolescents with orthopedic conditions.
Daniel believes in an active lifestyle and enjoys hiking and kite boarding in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. He has previously been involved with an adaptive ski program and currently volunteers with a local adaptive aquatics program.
Chris Thompson, PT
Chris Thompson has been in Northern Virginia for the majority of her life. She attended University of Mary Washington where she received a BS in Biology in 1983. She completed her post graduate study in physical therapy at the University of Maryland ES in 1988.
Her interest in physical therapy started when she attended high school in Manassas. Chris has always enjoyed sports and was on the basketball and track team in high school. At that time she knew that she wanted to work in a sports related field. She worked in an orthopedic out patient physical therapy office as an aide where her real desire to become a physical therapist flourished. Throughout her college and post college free time she worked as a referee for basketball, soccer, volleyball as well as coached U- 16 boys soccer and taught swim classes for water babies through adults. She has also worked as an athletic trainer at Lifetime Fitness and has an interest in developing sports specific training programs.
The majority of her career has been spent working with children with both orthopedic and neurologic injuries. Over the course of 22 years she has worked for INOVA Fairfax Hospital, INOVA VNA Home Health, and Physiotherapy Associates before coming to Commonwealth Orthopedics. She has a Pediatric NDT Certification and continuing education training for craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, and joint mobilization.
In her free time she enjoys running, skiing, rock climbing, and weight training.
