Commonwealth Orthopaedics is sponsoring the First Annual Burke Rockstar Run 8K/one mile fun run on Sunday, April 18 at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds will be donated to The Celebrate Cherie Scholarship Fund which awards scholarships to deserving students pursuing careers in physical therapy.

The fund was established to honor Cherie Amor Yadao, a physical therapist and manager at Commonwealth Orthopaedics whose life was cut short in 2009 at the age of 35 after a valiant fight against a rare cancer.

We hope you will come out and join our Commonwealth employees and physicians who are either volunteering their time or running in the Rockstar Run. The following physicians will be there: Drs. Tushar Ch. Patel, MD, David W. Romness, MD, Thomas J. Klein, MD, Kevin D. Sumida, MD, Chris C. Annunziata, MD, David J. Novak, MD, Daniel E. Weingold, MD, Ben W. Kittredge, MD and Daniel E. William A. Hazel, Jr., MD, has been appointed by Governor Bob McDonnell to serve as the Secretary of Health and Human Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Dr. Hazel was one of the founding physicians of Commonwealth Orthopaedics in 1994.

Commonwealth recently sponsored two education programs, one for athletic trainers and team physicians and one for Southwestern Youth Assocation (SYA) soccer coaches. Learn More
