Employees are provided a comprehensive compensation and benefit program and are eligible for most benefits at the time of hire, rather than having to wait for 30 – 90 days.
- Compensation
Commonwealth strives to provide competitive pay based on comparable positions in medical practices. To stay abreast of trends in compensation, Commonwealth periodically conducts surveys of the local and regional market. We also offer incentive compensation for selected positions
- Health and prescription insurance
Commonwealth Orthopaedics offers employees a choice of three different preferred provider organizations, which enable employees to select a plan in which their personal physicians participate. Commonwealth pays for most of the premium for full-time employees and a prorated share of the cost is paid for part-time employees. Coverage begins on the first date of employment. Family and dependent coverage are available at the employee’s cost.
- Dental insurance
Dental insurance is paid by Commonwealth for full time employees. Commonwealth pays a prorated share of the cost for part-time employees and family and dependent coverage are available at the employee’s cost. Coverage begins on the first date of employment.
- Life insurance
A $50,000 term life insurance plan is provided to each regular full-time employee at the time of employment.
- Short and Long Term Disability Insurance
Commonwealth provides short-term and long-term disability insurance for all full-time employees. Commonwealth pays for the entire cost of this coverage. Eligibility begins on the date of hire.
- Holidays
Commonwealth observes holidays for which regular full-time and regular part-time employees receive holiday pay.
The holidays include:- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
- Vacation , Sick and Personal Days
Vacation leave is provided to full-time and part-time employees and accrual begins at the time of hire. Employees are eligible to use the leave after 90 days. Accrued vacation leave is carried over to the next year and any accrued balance is a payable benefit to the employee at the time of voluntary termination with appropriate notice.
Sick leave is provided to full-time employees and can be used for time off necessary for their medical appointments and for their own illness or treatment. Accrued leave is carried over to the next year.
Full -time employees are eligible for two personal days per calendar year and part-time employees receive one day.
- Family Medical, Jury Duty and Bereavement Leave
Employees of Commonwealth have access to leave for extended family medical leave as well as leave for jury duty and bereavement for immediate family members.
- Retirement Plan
After one year of employment, employees are eligible to participate in Commonwealth’s 401 (k) and profit sharing plan. Commonwealth contributes to a profit sharing plan for employees. Employees are fully vested after being in the retirement plan for two full years.
- Flexible Spending or Cafeteria Plan
Employees are able to set aside money from their paycheck on a pre-tax basis to cover costs such as their share of insurance premiums, eligible dependent care services, and out-of-pocket medical expenses.
- Employee Recruitment Program
Employees are eligible to participate in the employee recruitment program by referring qualified candidates to Commonwealth and are eligible for a substantial bonus for a successful new hire.
