About Commonwealth Orthopaedics

Our History

1994: Commonwealth Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation, P.C., was established with the merger of a four-physician group in Herndon and a four-physician group in Reston.

1996: Commonwealth merged with several physicians in Arlington and Vienna.

1997: Commonwealth merged with an orthopaedic hand surgeon and established its Annandale and Leesburg offices.

1998: Commonwealth opened its first physical therapy facility in its Arlington office.

1999: Commonwealth opened its first Joint Commission-accredited outpatient surgery center in its Herndon location, and hired its first anesthesiologist.

2000: Two Annandale offices consolidated into a new Fairfax office

2001: A second Joint Commission-accredited outpatient surgical center opened at the Fairfax location.

2002: Joint Commission again awarded Commonwealth a full three-year accreditation.

2003: Commonwealth merged with a physician practice in Burke.

2005: For the third time, Joint Commission awarded Commonwealth full accreditation.

2006: Opened second Alexandria office on Ford Ave.

2008: Commonwealth opened its Lansdowne office.

2009: For the fourth time, Joint Commission awarded Commonwealth full accreditation.

Mission Statement

Commonwealth Orthopaedics, an orthopaedic surgery group practice, provides comprehensive, high quality, cost effective care to patients with injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

We act with the best interest of our patients in mind, strive to provide the best medical care available, and treat our patients with respect, compassion, and confidentiality.

We attempt to minimize the inconveniences of treatment to our patients by providing prompt, courteous service. To this end, we offer as part of our practice, outpatient outpatient surgery and physical therapy.

We promote quality medical care in the community through participation in hospital medical staff functions, benchmarking with similar organizations and participation with local and national medical societies. We participate with the local medical educational institutions to prepare new healthcare professionals for our community.

We keep the health and well-being of our patients as our top priority.
